Actually got the Direct Rendering answer "Yes" but after the restart I got the blue screen thingie.

I've tried almost every single tutorial out there and nobody seemes to work. I've also tried to install the driver using envy, and everything seemed ok, untill I tried compiz(lots of errors)

*frustrated*

PS: Anyone have a good graphic card to recomend, witch is acctually supported by this distro?

Re:Nvidia 8600GT on Ubuntu - 2007/09/26 09:04 I've seen a lot of people on ubuntu forums that had problems with the XFX 8600gt cards. I haven't come across any solution. I would try open a thread in the Multimedia & video section in ubumtu forums.

If I could choose a grafix card for linux it would be NVidia geforce 7-series. I think they are all easy to set up with ubuntu 7.04.

The only reason I'm using a 8-series card is because that's all I could choose from the company that built my pc.
