Or use something like Visual Watermark (www.visualwatermark.com) to do loads of images at once.
Personally I use Watermark Variations but it requires Photoshop CS, CS2 or CS3.

Light painting, be creative!

Hello there!
Here is some basic information about the well known technique called Light painting or Light graffiti. I am pretty sure that members will add tips and information to the tutorial!
1. The tools: Besides your camera you will need a tripod and a torch (or any other kind of light you can handle and move). Why a tripod? Because you will choose an exposure long enough to do your drawing. In my case, it usually takes me 20 to 30 seconds to create the scene.
2. Light: All kind of lights can be used. Don t worry about your sensor, it won t be damaged if you point the torch directly on it while you shoot. I use a little light also used as a key chain. It s powerful enough to draw the characters and can be turned on/off just by pressing a button.
3. Tips: Shooting in a place where there is lighting (streets..), it would be interesting to do a test photograph using the chosen exposure time so you don t get burnt lights and an overexposed scene.
Light is your friend, you could use moving lights from cars etc.. Here is a photograph I did while a train was passing under a bridge.

You may want to try different white balance settings since the lighting in the streets is usually yellow.
Set the focus on manual if the place you are at is too dark to auto focus.
I recommend using a remote control which gives the option to lock the shutter in bulb mode.. Like that, you have all the time you need to be creative! I use the Nikon MC-30 with my camera and it works well.
Light painting is about light, creativity and fun!
I hope it will give some idea to some of you who may want to try this technique.
Can't wait to see some of your photographs !

How to choose a camera for beginners

I've been asked this question at least once every few weeks and I'm finding it a chore to answer it. So I compiled a list of features available in cameras and come common terms and called it the beginning photography tips. I tried my best to cover everything in laymen terms without all the photo jargons.
If you have the same problem as me, do refer them to my website as a shortcut out of the situation.

Black background for flowers

Thanks. In newer versions of PSE (5 and 6 I believe) you can use the new "Quick Selection Tool" to select either the flower or the background area.
For the fine tuning adjustments, using the Selection Brush and adjusting the size as needed, even down to very small, works best for the fine corrections to the outline.
When using either of these tools, in normal mode it will be selecting (as long as you have selected in the controls bar either Selection or Add to Selection) and then you can remove from selection by holding down the Alt key while you use the tool. Hold Alt to remove, let go of Alt to add some back in. This lets you switch back and forth without changing the setting on the control bar.

I'm making this sticky as it seems to be a common problem and several have already found it helpful. And I edited it slightly, marked -JE.

Hi Andy,
The coastline around Cemaes is my 2nd favourite place on Anglesey - the 1st being Llanddwyn Beach/Island near Newborough.
Well worth a walk along the coastal path at the far end of the beach heading away from the harbour - White Lady Bay is only a short walk as is Llandabrig Church
Hope the weather turns out o.k !!
