Well, most people run Windows on their PCs and are not very keen to learn something different and switch to Linux but there is still chance to use Open Source Aplication on you Windows PC. I will list some of my favourite Applications which you can install on your Windows machine without being worried about spyware and cost.
- Firefox - Internet Browsing. More secure than Internet Explorer and with Tab browsing.
- Thunderbird - A great replacement for the crapy Outlook
- Open Office - No need for that expensive MS Office. Fully compatible with MS office document format and with built in PDF conversion.
- Gimp - No need to steal or pay for Photoshop. Gimp is capable of most things an average PC user needs from an image manipulation software.
- NVU - No need for FrontPage. This project is not very active but I still think its a worth while programme.
- VLC Media Player - Plays almost any video format and works on windows/linux/mac
- Launchy - launch your application without shortcuts and menus
You can dowload most of these applications on one CD from the TheOpenCD project.
