In Ubuntu firefox buttons and search windows look rather ugly comparing to windows version of Firefox. I'm not completely sure what the reason is but it can be easily fixed by replacing few widgets and a single .css file. Lets get going.
So you want to make you webpages from looking like this
To look like this
If you want to change these on a default version of firefox in Ubuntu (the one that is installed in /usr/lib/firefox) all you have to do is download this archive firefox-widgets 2007-03-24 01:55:22 15.08 Kb, extract it, run the .install file inside and choose option to install.
If you want to use it on a version of Iceweasel or Swiftfox you can do that by choosing option 3 and inserting the path to your browser (something like /usr/local/Iceweasel32 or /usr/bin/swiftfox).
If you are still having problems you can simply unpack the archive, open nautilus as root (gksudo nautilus), copy the form-widgets folder and forms.css file and paste them in the /pathtoyourbrowser/res
In my case, I'm using Swiftfox, so I copied it to /usr/lib/swiftfox/res
If you want, you can backup the old forms.css file and res folder in case you want to go back to the original. All this steps are automatically executed by the script.
This guide is based on this.
